AAHAR CHENNAI SHOWCASES OVER 115 COMPANIES REPRESENTING FOOD PROCESSING & HOSPITALITY SECTORS

The 11th edition of Aahar Chennai was inaugurated today by Mrs. Shubhra Singh, IAS, Executive Director, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Thiru PradeepYadav, IAS, Principal Secretary – Cooperation, Food & Consumer Protection Department, Government of Tamilnadu, among other dignitaries.
Over 115 leading leading Indian companies are taking part in the exhibition. The show covers an area of 4400 sq. mtrs.approx. Aahar Chennai, the premier event of India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) will run from September 15 to 17, 2016 in Hall 1, Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam.
The show presents a wide range of products and services for the hotel and catering industry as well as a wide range of processed food products. The display profile includes dairy products, organic & health products, frozen, canned & processed food, meat, poultry & sea food, food additives and preservatives, coffee, tea, syrups, juices & energy drinks, confectionery, desserts, housekeeping, laundry & cleaning equipment, linen, furnishings, textiles, fabrics & apparels, bakery & confectionery equipment, food processing & packaging equipment, refrigeration, chillers, freezers, guest amenities, stewarding, tableware & glassware products, bar equipment & supplies, security & safety solutions, etc.
The fair is becoming increasingly significant especially when the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, has allowed 100% FDI in food retailing along with simplification of procedures for better performance in domestic market and export.
The Chennai edition of Aahar has become institutionalised over the years, and is an important platform for exhibitors and business visitors alike. The fair has been witnessing a constant uptrend in terms of participation and visitor turnout. It has been playing a catalytic role in opening new avenues and tapping a huge potential in food and hospitality sectors in southern region.
Aahar Chennai has the unique distinction of introducing, for the first time, a 360 degree virtual reality video and stills for online promotion across all social media network like Facebook, Twitter and You Tube etc. This will give Aahar Chennai and all participants an even wider reach across India and the world.

The ‘Culinary Show and Competition’ by the South India Culinary Association (SICA) / IFCA is amongst the major attractions at Aahar. The culinary show will involve participation of over 600 Chefs from renowned institutions as well as training colleges. The culinary show aims to hone the skills of Chefs and to prepare them for presenting their skills in international competitions.
The visitor profile of the show includes: executive chefs & executive housekeepers, hospitality procurement heads, importers & distributors, senior representatives from hotel, restaurants, industrial canteens, fast food outlets etc., organised retailers & mega chains, purchase professionals & consultants, hospitality service providers, start-ups and entrepreneurs.
The three days B2B specialised event is being organised with the support of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Food and Hospitality Support Association of India (FHSAI), All India Food Processors Association (AIFPA), Hotel and Restaurant Equipment Manufacturers Association of India (HOTREMAI), Association of Resource Companies the Hospitality Industry of India (ARCHII), Indian Federation of Culinary Association (IFCA), Southern Indian Culinary Association (SICA), TamilnaduBakers Federation (TNBF) and South India Hotel and Restaurant Association (SIHRA) and Hotel Purchase Manager Forum (HPMF), are the associates of the event.
