Mumbai: 4911 cases detected in suburban and long-distance trains during intensive and regular checks on Mumbai Division Central Railway. During the intensive and regular checks conducted by a team of senior officers and Ticket Checking staff from 1st August to 17th September 2020, 4,911 cases were detected and an amount of Rs. 22.37 lakh realized as a penalty.

During the month of August 2020, 2,244 cases of irregular travel were detected and an amount of Rs. 10.74 lakh realized as a penalty. 2,667 cases were detected and an amount of Rs. 11.62 lakh was realized as penalty during the period from 1.09.2020 to 17.09.2020.

These 4,911 cases include special checking drive conducted on 11.09.2020 in Special Trains No 01071 and 05646 by the Mumbai Division. During the drive, 76 cases were detected and an amount of Rs. 72,750/- realized as penalty from these cases. Besides this, 100 cases were detected in the suburban section on 11.09.2020 and an amount of Rs. 28,395/- recovered as penalty from these cases. 65 cases of irregular travel were detected on 12.09.2020 in Special Trains no 02534, 01094 & 02142, and an amount of Rs. 63,275/- recovered as penalty from these cases. 87 cases were detected on the suburban section on 12.09.2020 and an amount of Rs. 26,645/- recovered as penalty from these cases.

During drive irregularities mainly noticed are as under-

1)Misuse of senior citizen quota.

2)Travelling on Altered tickets.

3)Improper conversion of system generated ticket to e- tickets.

4)Travelling with coloured xerox of tickets.

5)Travelling with fake ID cards.

6)Transfer of ticket cases.

Central Railway appeals to the passengers to travel with proper and valid railway tickets in order to avoid inconvenience and travel with dignity.
