UN urges North Korea to de-nuclearize again

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmail
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned North Korea over its latest ballistic missile launch and called on Pyongyang to return to de-nuclearization.

The UN chief called on North Korea to ensure full compliance with its international obligations and return to the path of de-nuclearization.

North Korea had carried out its latest test of a ballistic missile on Sunday, which Pyongyang said was capable of carrying a heavy nuclear warhead.

The UN Security Council was weighing its response to the latest launch. A closed-door emergency Council session will be held in on Tuesday.

Under UN resolutions, North Korea is barred from developing nuclear and missile technology.
