Turbulent start to UP Assembly session

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmail
The maiden session of the newly elected UP Assembly beginning on a stormy note. Opposition members threw paper balls at Governor Ram Naik during his address.

When the governor started reading out his address, the entire opposition comprising members of Samajwadi Party, Congress and BSP started slogan shouting against the government over the issue of law and order.

The customary address of the governor to the joint sitting of the two Houses of the state legislature was drowned out in the uproar. The Governor’s appeals to legislators went unheeded. Governor’s joint address and GST were to be discussed but the law and order issue hijacked the agenda.

The GST bill was tabled amidst the ruckus. The UP government said the previous dispensation needs to introspect.
