Sweden drops rape charges against Assange

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmail
Swedish prosecutors on Friday unexpectedly dropped their investigation into rape allegation against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, ending a torturous seven-year extradition battle that nevertheless leaves significant question marks over his future.

But the WikiLeaks founder says his legal fight is not over and he cannot forgive the “terrible injustice” done to him across the last seven years of his life.

Hailing an “important victory”, he said he was prepared for dialogue with the US and UK authorities. Assange is wanted in the US over the leaking of military and diplomatic documents.

Meanwhile Ecuador urged the UK to allow him safe passage out of the country.
