Islamabad: Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain would be visiting Kabul on Monday to attend the swearing- in ceremony for the new Afghanistan President, the Foreign Ministry said.
“The President’s participation in the inauguration ceremony underscores Pakistan’s consistent support for peaceful democratic transition in Afghanistan,” it said in a statement.
Afghan President-elect Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai will be sworn-in on Monday in the country’s first-ever peaceful power transition.
President Hamid Karzai, the longest serving elected President, will transfer power to the new leader.
The government has beefed up security measures ahead of Presidential inauguration scheduled. Some 1,400 national and international dignitaries, including more than 200 delegates from the US, China, Pakistan, India and other countries, will participate the first-ever peaceful power transition ceremony in Afghanistan.
