Mumbai, 22nd February, 2015: IL&FS Financial Services, a leading non-banking finance company, hosted the third edition of its ‘Fun Run’ at the Bandra-Kurla Complex today.
Organized in association with the Bank of Baroda and the Bank of India, the Fun Run is aimed at helping increasingly desk-bound executives incorporate fitness into their daily routines.
First held in 2013, the initiative has steadily gained in popularity and over 4,000 running enthusiasts from across the financial services industry turned out to take part in the event, including industry stalwarts from well known financial institutions as Bank of India and Bank of Baroda. Well known wellness & fitness guru, Mr. Mickey Mehta also partnered with the Fun Run this year.
The event, comprising races in two categories – a 5 km ‘Fun Run’ and a 10 km Run was flagged off by Mr. Ranjan Dhawan – Executive Director – Bank of Baroda, Mr. Ramesh Bawa – Managing Director & CEO IL&FS Financial Services and Mr. Arun Srivastava – Executive Director of Bank of India at the IL&FS Financial Center at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.
The races ended back at the IL&FS Financial Center. Winners of each category were felicitated at the end of the race in a special function.
A separate race for wheelchair bound children was also organized by IL&FS along with NGO ADAPT (Able Disable All People Together) that saw 15 children take part. The partnership with ADAPT is part of the company’s CSR commitment and IL&FS has pledged to donate a percentage of the revenue earned from the Fun Run to the NGO.
Ramesh Bawa, Managing Director & CEO IL&FS Financial Services, IL&FS said, “At IL&FS we are committed to the well-being of employees working in the financial services industry. Exercise, apart from boosting workplace productivity, is a great stress-buster and the Fun Run is aimed at encouraging our industry’s workforce to adopt a fit and active lifestyle. We are truly staggered by the turnout the third edition of the event has seen and it only reinforces our commitment to ensuring fitness is a key part of all of our daily routines.”
