Kathmandu: Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have congratulated Ram Nath Kovind on his election as India’s 14th President.

In messages on Thursday, Bhandari and Deuba expressed willingness “to work closely with Kovind in the days ahead to further strengthen the cordial relations between the two countries”, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry.

Kovind will assume office on July 25 when incumbent President Pranab Mukherjee’s five-year term ends.
