Movie Review – The Mummy

By Firdaus Pavri

Verdict – The highly clichéd mummy franchise delivers a spinoff thats watchable and with a female mummy for the first time.
My Rating 3.5 of 5 stars

Genre – Horror action adventure

Producer – Universal Pictures

Director – Alex Kurtzman

Cast-
Tom Cruz
Sofia Boutella
Annabelle Wallis
Russell Crowe
Jake Johnson

Plot –
In London England a group of construction workers discover a grave of crusader knights. A mysterious man is given the charge of the place who narrates a story of an Egyptian princess who is condemned to be made a mummy alive for her doings.
Soldiers of Fortune 2 friends discover a tomb in Mesopotamia Iraq and find a sarcophagus of a mummy. When the mummy awakens what havoc she will play is for the world to see.

What’s Good – The special effects and the beautiful Cinematography of the Grand locales remain the best part of the movie,
Actor Tom Cruz surpasses all in the acting department and carries the movie throughout and with mind boggling action scenes at age 53,
The Mummy actress Sophia Boutella has immense screen presence and personality, Annabelle Wallis as Tom Cruz’s girlfriend is a drop dead beauty,
Inspite of a repetitive story and lack of a fresh plot the movie remains a good watch due to superb direction and awesome acting by the cast.

What’s Bad-The storyline is not fresh and is the usual fare like any other Mummy movie we have seen before.
