The 51st Annual General Meeting of Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad was held on 22nd September 2016 at Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai, in presence of various dignitaries and thousands of sister-members of Lijjat across India.
The Meeting was graced by Chief Guest Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Guest of Honour Smt. Usha Suresh, Chief Executive Officer & Financial Adviser of Khadi & Village Industries Commission and Shri Y K. Baramatikar, Dy. CEO of KVIC.
While speaking at the 51st Annual General Meeting of Lijjat the Chairman of Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena praised the pioneer member of Lijjat Smt. Jashwantiben Popat saying her presence today is in itself a satisfying experience and President of Lijjat Smt. Swati R. Paradkar who is looking after the working of this Institution so efficiently with support of thousands of sister members and thus taking this Institution to new heights. He said infact it is a proud moment for him to be present today for Lijjat’s 51st Annual General Meeting which is an Institution run by women, for the benefit of women and where women are empowered and provides them a platform to become self-reliant. He further said that there is a phrase that the parents become famous because of the good deeds of their child which makes them happy and in this way KVIC by extending support to Lijjat since 50 years today is known for the success of Lijjat and therefore what can be a happier moment for KVIC than this. He said KVIC is fortunate that it extended recognition and supported’ this Institution. Shri Saxena further said that Lijjat initially began with only 7 sisters and today has grown to 45,000 members in 50 years and spread all over the country. This is a great and remarkable achievement and Lijj at should be equated with the Seven Wonders of the World. He congratulated all the sister members of Lijjat and wished them all the success and the Institution may continue to grow and assured that KVIC will always support this Institution. Shri Saxena made an appeal to use Khadi which would support the women weavers in Khadi sector.
The Chief Executive Officer and Financial Adviser of KVIC, Smt. Usha Suresh while speaking on this occasion said that she felt proud on being invited as Guest of Honour of such an Institution which is respected throughout the country as a symbol of women empowerment, financial equality and development. She said that Lijjat is fulfilling the social objectives of KVIC with its rural development work and working closely with KVIC. She further said that Lijjat is an old Institution under KVIC and is rated by KVIC as its top ranked Institution.
Shri Utpal Bhayani, CharteredAccountant said that inspite of volatile situation prevalent in prices of raw materials in the market during 2015-16, Lijjat continued to achieve excellent success like every year which is a great achievement and is the result of hard work of all the sisters of the Institution.
President of Lijjat Smt. Swati R. Paradkar welcomed the Guests and highlighted their work and achievements. She spoke about Lijjat’s association with KVIC which has completed 50 years and sister members of Lijjat will always be grateful for the support and encouragement received from KVIC in all these years. She said that with the blessings of Pujya Chhaganbapa and Pujya Dattanibapa, by abiding to their philosophy and guidance, maintaining high quality standards of products and hard work, the Institution has achieved success. She gave the message to sisters that in future they should continue with maintaining high standards in quality of Lijjats products and in this way the goodwill among the customers will continue to grow.
The Pioneer member of Lijjat Smt. Jashwantiben Popat, Vice-President, Smt. Pratibha E. Sawant, Sanchalika, Smt. Vimalben Pawale and well-wisher and C.A. Shri Dhirubhai Mehta were also present on this occasion.
