Introduction of 26 additional suburban services on CR and Inauguration of Passenger Amenities on CR & WR by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra

Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra will e-inaugurate Foot Over Bridges at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Neral, Tilak Nagar and Santacruz stations; Foot Over Bridge (additional landing) at Vidyavihar; Extension of Foot Over Bridges at Lower Parel and Borivali; Escalators at Thane and Dadar; Lifts at Dadar, Mankhurd, Reay Road and Borivali; Solar Power Plants at Grant Road, Virar Car Shed, Lower Parel and Mahim; Emergency Medical Rooms at Govandi and Titwala; Booking Office at King’s Circle; e-Dedication of 100% LED lighting at 52 stations of Central Railway, Foot Over Bridge (additional landing) at Elphinston Road, Wi-Fi Services at Vadala Road and Badlapur; and introduction of 26 additional Suburban Services on Central Railway and Re-Introduction of train services between Neral and Matheran with enhanced safety features in a function being held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai on 26.1.2018 at 10.30 am.

 

Many other dignatories which include – Hon’ble Ministers of Govt. of India, Hon’ble Ministers of Govt. of Maharashtra, Hon’ble Mayors, Hon’ble MPs (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) and Hon’ble MLAs jurisdiction –wise have been invited as Guests of Honour on the occasion.

 

INAUGURATION OF PASSENGER AMENITIES:

ON CENTRAL RAILWAY

6 meter wide New Foot Over Bridges at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Thane, Neral and Tilak Nagar

Provision of 6.0m wide Foot Over Bridge at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai- end) with 3 staircases connecting all 5 platforms. Length – 44m, Spans – Two at cost of Rs. 4 crore.

Provision of 6m wide Foot Over Bridge at Thane (Kalyan-end), connecting platforms 2 to 9 with 4 staircases (all at Kalyan-end) and 3 lifts, Length – 95m, Spans – 4 at cost of Rs. 5 crore.

Provision of 6m wide Foot Over Bridge at Neral (Mumbai-end) in lieu of existing Foot Over Bridge with 2 staircases and connecting both platforms with 2 staircases. Length – 24m, at cost of Rs. 1.9 crore.

Provision of 6m wide Foot Over Bridge at Tilak Nagar station (Mumbai-end) connecting both platforms. Length – 22m, Span – Single at cost of Rs. 2.5 crore.

Foot Over Bridge (Additional Landing) at Vidyavihar

Provision of one additional landing on existing Foot Over Bridge at Vidyavihar station (Mumbai-end) at a cost of Rs.0.40 crore.

 

Two Escalators one each at Thane and Dadar station

One escalator has been provided near West side Booking Office. The escalator has been strategically provided so that passengers can purchase tickets / passes and avail the facility of escalator for going to platform no. 1 / 2 and 3. This escalator has capacity to carry 9000 passengers per hour and cost is Rs. 77 lacs. This facility will greatly help sr. citizens, Divyangs, and pregnant women passengers.

Lifts at Dadar, Mankhurd and Reay Road

For easy transit of passengers from platform, lift has been provided on platform no.01 at Vashi end of Reay Road station. This lift will help in easy access to PF no. 2. The lift can carry upto 15 passengers and can bear load upto 1020Kgs. Approximate cost is Rs. 25 lacs. The lift has automatic door closer, automatic rescue device and Braille script on lift buttons for the convenience of blind Divyangjan.

Emergency Medical Room (EMR) at Govandi and Titwala

Emergency Medical Room, being commissioned on PPP model, will provide immediate help to passengers getting hurt or injured during journey. It will also help passengers in saving time in getting normal medical help on nominal payment basis. West side near Booking Office concourse at Govandi at cost of Rs. 14.35 Lakh, West side concourse near Booking Office at Titwala at cost of Rs.14.57 lakh

New Booking Office at King’s Circle

One booking office has been provided at King’s Circle station on Bandra end foot over bridge at cost Rs. 18 lacs.

100% LED Lighting at 52 stations on Central Railway

Provision of 100% LED lighting at various 52 stations over Mumbai Division at cost of Rs. 3.00 crore. Further it is proposed to provide 100% LED lighting at 38 stations during the year 2018-19.

Wi-Fi Services at Vadala Road and Badlapur

For the convenience of passengers and as a step towards Digital India, high speed Wi fi facility has been provided at Vadala Road & Badlapur stations. Passengers can access internet sites, check Railway related information and also entertain themselves while waiting for train in station premises.

Introduction of Neral – Matheran Services

Re-introduction of Neral – Matheran train services. 05 stations (Neral, Jumapatti, Waterpipe, Aman lodge, Matheran). Two services will run daily from 26.01.2018 i.e. 01 service in Up & 1 service in Down direction with Improved safety features like  dual braking system provided in Loco as well as in coaches, Microprocessor based Engine Control System, Vigilant Control Device to monitor alertness of Loco Pilot and Speed Control unit to avoid over speeding of locos. There will be 5 pairs of shuttle services between Aman Lodge and Matheran from 27.1.2018.

ON WESTERN RAILWAY

Extension of Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at Borivali, Lower Parel & Santacruz

 

Borivali: A 12m wide Foot Over Bridge at Borivali station has been extended towards east circulating area. This extension will now facilitate passengers in east circulating area to directly climb this 12m wide FOB with access to all platforms without entering platform No.1. This will reduce congestion on platform no.  10 and will be convenient for passengers. It has been constructed at a cost of Rs.2.35 crore.

Santacruz: For the convenience of passengers, direct connectivity from platform no. 5 & 6 to east side circulating area has been provided at the south FOB at Santacruz by replacing a span with a new one. This will also prove beneficial in the construction of 6th line.

Lower Parel: With extension of the 6.0m wide FOB at Lower Parel towards west side at cost of Rs. 1.60 crore, now, passengers can directly go to platform no. 2 & 3, thereby reducing congestion on PF No. 1.  In addition to this, direct access to Mahalaxmi workshop has also been provided. Currently, the passengers coming from west side of Lower Parel station had to enter platform no.1 in order to go to platform no. 2 & 3.

 

Dedication of 2.5 m wide staircase on North FOB at Elphinstone Road: 

 

The existing north FOB at Elphinstone Road of 4.8m width have 2 staircases of 2.4m width on south end and 2.1m width on north end.   Considering heavy rush on this FOB and for the convenience of passengers, an additional staircase of 2.5m width has been provided on the north side by shifting elevated booking office to ease passenger dispersal.

 

Inauguration of Lifts at Borivali:

Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, especially outstation travellers with luggage, Sr. Citizens and Divyangs, two  Lifts have been provided at east side at Borivali station, i.e home platform no. 10, at both north & south side FOBs. These lifts have been constructed at a cost of Rs. 0.39 crores each.

Provision of Solar Panels at Grant Road, Virar Car Shed, Lower Parel and Mahim:

 

Solar panels have been provided at 4 stations viz.  Grant Road (42 KW), Virar (200 KW), Lower Parel (100 KW) & Mahim (100 KW) – total 442 KW which will generate about 53,000 units of electricity per month. This will provide cheap and green energy to Railway resulting in saving of approx. Rs. 18.0 lakhs per annum and will help to cut down the carbon emission by about 620 tonnes per annum. These Solar Plants have been commissioned on PPP Model.
