Bangalore: After spending 22 days in jail, former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa will finally walk out on Saturday. The Supreme Court on Saturday granted bail to Jayalalithaa in the 18-year-old disproportionate assets case against her.
Ahead of her release, Section 144 has been imposed around the Bangalore Central Jail where Jayalalithaa was lodged. The apex court has suspended her sentence as well as that of three other convicts in the case.
A bench headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu suspended the sentence of four years simple imprisonment given by the trial court in Bangalore in an illegal assets case and warned her against causing any delay by seeking adjournment in her appeal in Karnataka High Court.
