Central Railways all 5 Divisions i.e. Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Solapur, Bhusawal and Workshops have entered into an Agreement today with M/s Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a Government of India Undertaking, to provide LEDs in place of old fittings and Energy Efficient Fans, Air- conditioners by replacing old one in the current financial year. The agreement was signed in presence of Shri D.K. Sharma, General Manager Central Railway.
Under this agreement EESL will invest 100% (Approximately Rs. 30 Crore) initially. Central Railway will pay back quarterly instalments to EESL from the savings achieved from energy bills by retaining some part of savings for the next five years. In this way both the organisations will be benefited. The agreement is for 5 years and during this period EESL will replace defective fittings and equipments, if any. The estimated energy saving per annum will be 1.4 crore units, which will result in savings of Rs. 13.14 crores per annum.
On the occasion of signing of agreement Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Chief Electrical Services Engineer, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineers from all 5 divisions and In-charges of workshops were also present.
