Starting this year, Indian Armed Forces have begun to commemorate 14th January every year as the Armed Forces Veterans’ Day. On the occasion of Veterans’ Day, a wreath laying ceremony was carried out at Kangra Udyan, Colaba Defence Station, Mumbai. Rear Admiral Sanjay Mahindru, Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area and servicing / retired personnel from the three services paid mark of respect to the Martyrs of Indian Armed Forces.

Commemorating Veterans’ Day every year is a unique initiative of the services to acknowledge and honour the selfless devotion and sacrifice by all veterans, who gave their best years of their lives to the service of the nation.

This year, the event at Mumbai was coordinated by Western Naval Command for all three services. In addition, help desks for pension and allied issues were also set up for the benifit of the veterans.
